Western spurs are a fancy tool for getting the horses’ attention and steering while driving cattle or just ridin’ a trail. The most recognized part of the spur is the rowel—a small wheel or disk with radiating points at the end. In the old days “to win your spurs” meant to gain knighthood. But today, it means you’ve earned respect. And to a cowboy, that’s as good as it gets.
